Why Sarkodie Abandoned Sark Wear In Videos On ‘Highest’ Album
In hip hop history, it is almost a ritual for every popular rapper to venture into clothing line, as seen with Sean Diddy Combs for Sean John, Jay-Z with Roca Wear, Lil Wayne for TrukFit, T.I. for Akoo and Pharrel for BBC among many others – and yes, Sarkodie for Sark Collection
For Sarkodie, the same enthusiasm and frenzy that greeted his clothing line has fizzled in the last year or so, and reports of his fashion shop going under has also not helped matters to do with Sark Collection.
The most decorated Ghanaian artist of all time, Sarkodie, invited some influential entertainment bloggers and stakeholders to have a view and a listen to the audio-visual material to his upcoming 5th studio album, ‘Highest’ and he had to answer questions relating to his clothing line.
After watching videos from his yet-to-be-released album, blogger and OAP, Zionfelix quizzed him why he wore sneakers and belts of other brands in his music videos instead of Sark Collections as he used to project in his visuals years back. Obidi in a reply said that the company is designing different brands of Sark collection so he is waiting for the new set of materials.
He added that products from Sark Collections were not ready at the time he was shooting the videos so he had to put on other brands.
“I wanted to do photoshoot with Sark Collections and push them but unfortunately at the time we were shooting the videos, we didn’t have the new ones yet that is why I couldn’t have anything to put in there but that does not mean I have stopped wearing them,” he responded.
www.zionfelix.com also reports that, Sarkodie’s new album will be out on September 2017. And it is a collection of 15 brand new songs, 3 interludes and a bonus track – 19 tracks in total as displayed on the official album track-list. An incredible collection of solid Hip-Hop and Afro-Beats cuts that are set to push him even further into the international stratosphere. Highest features some major local and International acts such as his long-time friend and Producer Jayso, UK’s very own Big Narstie, Victoria Kimani (Kenya), Moelogo (UK), renowned Spoken Word artist Suli Breaks (UK), Korede Bello (Nigeria), Praiz (Nigeria), Yung L (Nigeria), Joey B (Ghana), Jesse Jagz (Nigeria), Flavour (Nigeria) and Bobii Lewis (UK).
