JOSHUA THE 'ATOPA' VILLAGE TEACHER: part one

by

Teaching is not for everybody but for the few who are called by God to make an impact in the lives of others,go and make yourselves proud.

These words by the Vice President of the country who was the special guest of honor at our graduation are still fresh in my memory.

The day for our posting came and I was praying to God to grant my wish to be posted to a place of my choice,  specifically Accra.

To my disappointment but to the joy of my village witches, I was 'thrown' to one of the villages in Kojoga district called Sasamaku. Infact, upon hearing the name, my appetite for food that evening vanished into thin air.

My mother tried comforting me but that didn't change my mood. I slept without eating but had to wake up in the middle of the night to take some tea since I couldn't stand the punishment I was giving myself.

The following day which was a Friday, I was left with no option than to prepare and journey to Sasamaku and start working as a professional teacher.

I made a tall list of things that would be useful to my stay as a man.

I went to the market and bought the things that I would need.

On Sunday at about 10:00am,  I set off from home to Sasamaku.

It was while in the car that I remembered I didn't buy 'weapon of mass destruction' aka condom.
Upon seeing a nearby pharmacy,  I deceived the driver that I was not feeling well so I needed to get some medicine.

He quickly agreed and I finally got my last 'apor' for the 'examination'.

After two hours of traveling,  I finally arrived in Sasamaku. Due to the bad nature of the road,  my white t-shirt changed its colour to brown and my black hair wasn't an exception.

I quickly asked to be directed to the headmistress' house.
A good looking boy helped me with my luggage to my final destination.

Within five minutes we were standing in front of her door which I gently knocked.

A woman in her mid-thirties opened the door and welcomed me with a broad smile. Without saying a word,  she called my name and said she received a letter from the District Director of Education about my posting there so she had been expecting me like the second coming of Christ.

I gave her a smile and thanked her and the little boy for helping me. She joyfully packed my things inside and showed me a room close to hers and told me we will share the kitchen and the washroom.

Coming soon: part two..

The positive impact of Shatta Wale's behavior on the youth.

by

When the name Shatta Wale is mentioned, most people only think of his controversial nature and have not really taken time to think about some positive impact he has made on his followers and on the youth at large.

To start with, any ardent follower of Shatta Wale should know that, the man is an embodiment of hardwork. Even those who do not like Shatta Wale for whatever reason can't do away with this fact. We were all witnesses to him releasing songs almost every single day in this country and about 80% of those were hit songs. So if you call yourself a follower of Shatta Wale and you are not hardworking then I don't know what you are following him for.

To add to the above, Shatta Wale has severally shown how magnanimous and generous he is. He parting with hundreds of mobile phones, cars just to mention but a few has really endeared him to his fans.

Also, Shatta Wale has clearly demonstrated that everybody can make it no matter how difficult it might seem. We were all witnesses to some radio and TV stations that refused to play songs from Shatta Wale. That did not stop him to keep pushing. His ability to stand extremely difficult moments is what keeps him miles ahead of the others.

Finally,  Shatta Wale is one person that has exhibited strong belief in himself. If everyone of us can strongly believe in ourselves as Shatta Wale does then very soon we will be able to move mountains.

I will conclude by saying that we all have positive sides and should do everything possible to highlight only on our positives to help push us to greater heights.

Pastors and death prophecies: The case study of Ebony and now Kwami Eugene.

by

It has become a common phenomenon in the country for pastors to call themselves Prophets and as such try to put one or two prophecies across.

In as much as the church has become the number one cash drilling equipment for anyone willing to enter into a lucrative business,  so has the emergence of prophets every second  become as rampant than formerly.

One question one will ask is why have pastors now gone into prophesying the death of celebrities?

The answer to the above is obvious. When a pastor talks about a celebrity in Ghana, attention is drawn to the church, which leads to a hype of the said church. When happens, the church then receives free advertisement from these media houses due to the discussion of such prophecies. This will eventually lead to an increase in membership overtime and of course an increase in revenue.
You don't need to understand or read rocket science to know that this is pure business for them.

Another question one will ask is why do these prophets talk only about death? Again, the answer is as easy as 'abc' if your common sense is at work. Ghanaians fear death so much that, they forget it's a necessary end to every living thing. Since death is a necessary end,I dare say,if you allow someone to trick you into believing that you are going to die the next moment or day, as a prophecy, then there must be a problem since that line of prophecy is a blatant lie. This is due to the fact that death is inevitable and anyone irrespective of who they are will surly die and at any time which  is why you need no prophet to tell you that.

Finally, Ghanaians should ask themselves, why don't these prophets use upcoming musicians in their prophecies? Your guess is as good as mine. These prophets are not really interested in prophesying but becoming famous and drawing members to their churches. So why use unknown people?-- One will ask They will never do it.

I will conclude by saying that if some of these prophets are made to face the celebrities they falsely talk about in court,  some of these things will be a thing of the past.

The country is overly religious and the 'wise ones' are taking advantage of it.
