The negative impact of Shatta Wale's behavior on the youth.

by

It is important to state that this article does not seek to portray Shatta Wale as a bad person rather it is to highlight certain traits that the youth may not have a deeper understanding of,which seriously have a negative effect on their behaviour.

With the analogy of calling a spade by its rightful name and not a big spoon, the smoking habit of Shatta Wale which he comfortably and publicly displays has made a lot of his followers think it is good to smoke and to even do it publicly. It will be no surprise to me if the young female SHS student who is fast becoming famous for smoking 'Weed' is a staunch fan of Shatta Wale. His fans love him dearly and can easily emulate some of the things he does.

Rough and impolite talk which is another  and arguably his greatest attribute and hallmark has got a lot of youth think to be successful and make it in this life,  you need to be rough and impolite to those you meet on your way up. It is true that Shatta Wale may have used this strategy to get himself where he is now but the fact still remains that it does not apply to most situations in life and most people will end up getting rejected and labelled as disrespectful if they are to use this method.

Most of the youth who are fans of Shatta Wale have either directly or indirectly learnt not to respect authority thereby becoming impolite and exhibiting traits of arrogance. In the camp of the Shatta movement and from what their boss display mostly online,  humility and respect doesn't seem to be a part of them and this will greatly have a negative effect on the youth who see him as 'god' and will do what ever they see him do.

The notion that what is supposed to be mine must be mine at all cost and by all means necessary even if it involves using a not too sensible approach as sometimes  employed by Shatta Wale leaves much to be desired and the youth who equally practice that are most likely to find themselves on the wrong side of the law. The Vodafone Ghana Music Award case involving him and Stonebwoy is a classical example.

I will conclude by saying that Shatta Wale has the greatest potential to transform the youth the right way since he has by far one of the biggest fan base in the country and must be encouraged to better his behaviour for the benefit of the Ghanaian youth.

The writer of this article is a Shatta Movement fan (or militant as referred to in their circles) who just said it as it is.

Music entertainment in education: Edutainment

by

Do you love music and entertainment? I ask this question on several occasions and almost always the response I get is in the affirmative. The power of music and entertainment is one that we cannot underplay.

According to a couple of researches made, extremely difficult situations can be managed by listening to good music. This strategy could be employed by teachers to explain difficult concepts to their learners, especially those in basic schools.

Furthermore, employing music and entertainment into our educational system will help increase attendance of students in class since most students find school boring. Why not make a particular day of the week a day for music and entertainment to help arouse the interest of pupils in education thereby having a positive effect on their regularity and punctuality in school.

The stress associated with going to school right from the basic level to the tertiary is something that is very disturbing. Irrespective of their ages, most people go to school from 7:00am to 4:00pm and some have to even leave home before 5:00am just to beat traffic and be in school on time. This has placed undue pressure on these young ones and even affected their performance in diverse ways. It is therefore very imperative to create entertainment periods for them to help release stress and to make them stay happy in school.

Finally, the career opportunities associated either directly or indirectly with entertainment and music is massive and also well paying if it is done properly. If music and entertainment is taken seriously in this country,  it will help increase employment opportunities for the young ones in the future.

The Ghana Education Service can employ the above strategies if it really wants to make teaching and learning fun and less stressful to all parties involved.

Nudity in the music industry.

by

One trend that is becoming very common in our entertainment industry is the issue of most of our females 'showing skin' or exposing themselves on stage during shows or in music videos.

While most people are against such people for 'showing skin', I beg to differ on the subject in that, showing a little bit of skin in the entertainment industry should not be seen as completely bad.

One major thing Ghanaians should understand is that, music just like any business has its own unique branding that makes it appealing to its customers. Exposing or showing skin sometimes can be a branding strategy of some musicians

Some female musicians who wear dresses to expose certain parts of their body during shows are most often invited to play shows because the hypocritical Ghanaian will bitterly complain about how a certain female act dresses on stage but would happily cheer that person on when she performs because he enjoys what he is sees.

One thing Ghanaians should learn to accept is that, the entertainment industry is not an arena where religion is practiced and so there can't be a measure of morality for the players in it.

It's about time we accept the bitter truth that s3x sells and rather develop a strategy to make some income out of it.

'A MUSICAL ADVICE' to the new GFA president: KURT OKRAKU.

by

It is just proper at this moment to congratulate the new Ghana Football Association president Mr. Kurt Okraku for his hard won victory at the just ended GFA elections.

As an entertainment person and football fan,  I find it an important part of my everyday life to give the following advice on how to use entertainment to sustain the interest of football among the fans and also increase attendants of spectators in our stadia.

To start with, I would be happy if the GFA can quickly seat down with stakeholders of MUSIGA and decide on how best to revive the interest of Ghanaians in our local game.

I made the above statement because about 99% of football fans are equally music lovers. The question is who doesn't like music?

The 'new GFA' must as a matter of necessity and urgency employ the services of music stars before the start of games to help increase the attendance of spectators, something clubs bitterly complain about.

To add to the above,  each premier league club can be associated with a top music star to help promote their activities on social media on match days and also be present at the stadium at least 50% of the season.

I will keep the rest of my advice for another write up but for now I will be looking forward to seeing the new GFA take a thing or two from this piece.

Most female musicians are '2 minute'. They don't last.

by

The Ghanaian music industry can only boast of few women and even with that, only about 1% or less of the number can boastfully and boldly say they are relevant in terms of making major hits and being on major musical stages in the country.

After a careful analysis,  the following are some of the reasons why most female musicians do not stand the test of time.

The first one has to do with managing female musicians in the country.
By far, the most popular artiste management in the country, Bull Haus entertainment,  had once mentioned that for female musicians to have successful careers, they must be in  romantic relationships with their managers which in most cases are men. Due to this reason,  most female talents often slow down or loose their shine after a breakup with their 'romantic managers'.

To add to the above, the Ghanaian culture do not allow female musicians to shine let alone stay long in the music industry unless they have a tough skin. Most female musicians are most likely to go down along the way because their 'romantic partners' do not allow them to express themselves or they would have to put their career on hold for family reasons. The sad part of this is that most of them do not catch up again when they decide to bounce back.

Last but not the least,  some female musicians are mostly known for the way they 'show skin' or expose themselves to the world rather than focusing on the music they seek to do or promote. Due to this, Ghanaians become easily feed up with them and their shine die off quickly as if they never existed.

Due to the above, I conclude that, most female musicians are '2 minute', they don't last.
